LGT Duels
Objective: Outplay your opponents in a series of three duels!
Set-up
1) This particular set of rules governs this Winner's/Revival Round's metagame.
2) Each player will face a different opponent in a sequence of three games: Russian Roulette, 17 Card Poker, and Stationary Roulette. Once the groups have been finalized, the Player Lists will be released along with the pairings for the three games.
3) Each player receives 150 chips. Each chip is worth 1m yen.
3a) For those in the Revival Round, the loan is 100m yen, so please take good care of your 50m yen bonus!
3b) For those in the Winner's Round, the chip counts determine winner and final payouts. See section "Endgame, Payouts, and Elimination" for more information.
4) The rules for the next game in the sequence will only be revealed after all players complete the current game.
5) Each player receives a Time Bank of three 24-hour periods, see section "Time Bank and Time-Outs" for more information. You only have these three periods across all three games.
6) All games are private until all groups have finished all games. While in a game, you know the chip count of your opponent, but their current win/loss ratio is unknown.
Gameplay
1) Chips and money will only move according to the game rules. No transfers allowed.
2) Game periods will be 24 hours. Please make sure you can get on at least once a day to make a move, or send in advance decisions as needed.
3) If a game asks you to post, do NOT edit or delete your posts. If you're caught, it's a penalty of 10 chips plus whatever other penalties deemed necessary. If you notice anything wrong in your post, you have 10 minutes from your initial post to double-post with corrections. For this reason, we ask that the opponent wait these 10 minutes before making a move. Once those 10 minutes are over, your decision is auto-finalized, so make sure you're confident before posting.
3a) If a post is unintelligible, the Dealer will ask that player to clarify. If you think your post needs clarification but the Dealer has yet to request it, do so at your own risk or just send a PM to the Dealer.
3b) Only text immediately visible is considered valid. A decision or correction made in an invisible text is invalidated. Please use black text.
4) Dealers can confirm moves posted. The deadline for the next player's decision is 24h after the Dealer posts a confirmation.
5) The next turn cannot begin without the Dealer's confirmation of the current turn.
6) If a game asks you to submit your move to the Dealer via PM, keep in mind that your submission is auto-finalized unless otherwise requested. As with posting, you have 10 minutes from your initial PM to correct anything.
6a) You may send in future decisions ahead of time. The Dealer will automatically input the decision on the deadline barring any changes.
7) Each game can move at a pace independent of other games.
Time Bank and Time-Outs
1) At any time during their current turn, a player can make a post stating that they wish to use a period from their Time Bank. For that turn, that player has a 24h extension.
2) If a player is inactive, they automatically use a period from their Time Bank. Partial periods do not carry over
3) If a period runs out without a decision, the player will automatically use the next period from their Time Bank without penalty.
4) At the agreement of both players, once per game, they may call a Time-Out to extend the current turn for up to 72h without tapping into the Time Bank.
5) Remember that you may send in future decisions ahead of time, which will not tap into the Time Bank.
Bankruptcy
1) If you are out of chips in any game at the end of a turn, you forfeit your current (and remaining) game(s). However, you may still be eligible to be an overall winner of this round, see section "Endgame, Payouts, and Elimination" for more information.
1a) For Revival Round only, if you bankrupt in one of the first two games, you may opt to continue by taking on a further debt of 100m yen (100 chips). These chips will be returned before winners are determined. This option is only available once; if you bankrupt in both of the first two games, you forfeit the third.
1b) If you run out of chips as the game concludes but you would have met the victory condition, you are nevertheless considered to have lost that game and earn nothing.
1c) If both players run out of chips at the same time, both are considered to have lost.
2) If you are forced to use more chips than you have during any current turn, you still only use the chips you have. However, you will be considered "all-in" and automatically meet any chip requirements you are obligated to post that turn.
Endgame, Payouts, and Elimination
1) The top two players who earn the most victory points are considered the overall winners! Tiebreaker is chip count. For those still tied without determining the overall winner, those players tied automatically lose.
1a) Note that a victory is worth 1 point, a draw is worth half a point, and a loss is worth no points.
1b) For Winner's Round only, the top two players are determined by chip count, not by victory points.
2) Revival Round: Losers in the Revival Round are eliminated. Players will convert their remaining chips into yen.
3) Winner's Round: 4th place pays 1st place the difference in chip count, capped at 150m yen. 3rd place pays 2nd place the difference in chip count, capped at 100m yen. Payouts for ties will be explained as necessary, but the maximum gain/loss remains at 150m yen.
Note: For those unfamiliar with these games, you may refer to the manga. Helpful links are provided here. Remember that manga rules are only a guideline and may differ from this tournament's rules.
