- Introduction and Agreement
- The “Dealers and Administrators of this website” (“We”) maintain this Website for the primary purpose of hosting Games (collectively "Tournament") in which numerous Players participate in a tournament structured similarly to Shinobu Kaitani’s Liar Game. We provide this Website free of charge.
- We recognize that something called the Liar Game Tournament implies that people can and likely will try to trick people in order to get away with whatever they want. In general, we do not care about what lies you wish to spread, but there is an expectation that the User (“You”) will keep your actions within the scope of playing and/or observing a forum game. Therefore, these rules (“Code”) are meant to protect you by defining what each person can and cannot do.
- By using this forum and/or participating in the forum Games hosted on this Website, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to the Code on this Website. If you disagree with the Code, you must immediately discontinue any participation in the Tournament.
- We reserve the right to terminate any User at any time for whatever reason. Terminated (ban) in this context refers to prompt removal from any activity on this forum. Elimination refers to any Tournament mechanism which bars Users from further participation in game(s) as specified.
- We reserve the right to update the Code as necessary. Any new edition will be in a new post after the previous Code and effective immediately. You are responsible for keeping up-to-date on the newest version.
- Incorporated by Reference
- Proboards Terms of Service (www.proboards.com/tos) is hereby incorporated into the Code.
- LGT2 Code of Conduct (liargametournament.proboards.com/thread/270/conduct) is hereby incorporated into the Code.
- Legal and Illegal Activity, In-Game
- We reserve the right to decide and enforce any decisions made regarding this section during the Tournament.
- Inactivity.
- The Tournament has provisions in case a Player fails to submit an action on time. For multiple cases of inactivity, we will deal with Players who fail multiple times to submit actions as dictated by the Game in any way we deem fit, up to and including Elimination from the Tournament.
- Quitting.
- We recognize that everyone has lives and may be unable to continue participating in the Tournament that can and will span months. If circumstances render you unable to continue playing, please *IMMEDIATELY* notify us about your (potential or realized) resignation so that we can adjust the tournament to your absence. It does not matter if there is only one turn remaining in the Game, immediately means IMMEDIATELY. In a complex and intricate war like the Tournament, the actions of one can affect everyone, so we take this issue seriously.
- You are hereby warned that failure to immediately notify us about your leaving may affect your participation in a future Tournament. If certain actions indicate to us that you planned on leaving without immediate notification, we reserve the right to investigate and act in any way necessary to preserve the integrity of the Tournament.
- Example: You have to leave the Tournament during a game. You were supposed to immediately notify us, but instead decided to hand all your possessions to an ally. We suspect through your tactical suicide moves that you had already planned on leaving. Upon our investigation, we determine that your moves served no purpose but to help your ally as you leave. We will then punish you (banned from future participation) and act in any way necessary to preserve the integrity of the Tournament (confiscate the funds, reset the game, etc.).
- Example: You are losing and your defeat is imminent. Wanting revenge, you give your resources to the people you like and take everyone else down with you. In this case, we will not assume you are secretly quitting, but instead carrying out a threat of retaliation made earlier (whether it was given or not, because attacking a Player presumes risk of retaliation).
- In general, we will permit Players to act in any way presuming their continued participation, assuming it does not violate the rights or privacy of another Player or Dealer.
- Example: You have to leave the Tournament during a game. You notify us, but also state that you can finish the game. At our discretion, we decide to let you continue playing (with any restrictions we place). You finish the game as a normal competitor and we will then announce your departure as if you had just notified us after the game.
- Decisions regarding this section are done on a case-by-case basis.
- Punitive Damages
- Inactivity or deliberate rule-breaking of a Game will be met with any sanction we deem fit, up to and including Elimination.
- Questions for Permitted Actions. If you have any concern about whether your planned action would become subject to Punitive Damages, ask a Dealer. Answers apply for that case only.
- Substitutes.
- Each Player may use only ONE (1) account during the Tournament. Due to potential tactical advantage, we cannot simply add a Player into the Tournament.
- Once the Tournament begins, registrations are still open. However, these registrations are placed on a Substitute List. When a Player leaves, we shall post that the first available Substitute (earliest to register) will receive an offer to join the Tournament. A reply within 48h of the post is necessary to confirm replacement. Failure to confirm will pass the offer to the next Substitute. All potential Substitutes wishing to join must confirm their ability to replace within 48h of the post. If there are no available Substitutes, the spot is lost.
- If a Player who left the Tournament wishes to return, he/she is added to the end of the Substitute List.
- Bank accounts do not transfer. Changes in score only apply to the Substitute. If a Substitute replaces a Player partway through a game, debt or earnings incurred from said game will be evenly split between the Player and respective Substitute.
- Multiple Accounts.
- Each player may use only ONE (1) account during the Tournament. If we discover that a Player has created multiple accounts, those accounts will be banned, and the Player may be restricted from further tournaments.
- For the same reason, Players may not share or swap accounts, nor may they share passwords. Two Players found to be sharing accounts will be penalized as if they had multiple accounts.
- Rules Disputes
- You may appeal any rules decision by Private Message (PM) to the Liar Game account (username: admin). By doing so, this insures that all Dealers have access to your appeal and can respond to it in a timely fashion. Messages sent elsewhere are liable to be overlooked or unreceived.
- In the case of a dispute with a Dealer, you may appeal by PM to Alydar (username: alydar). As the primary Dealer, all decisions made by Alydar are final. You agree to abide by any and all of his decisions regarding participation on this Website.
- If for some reason you cannot access the website to PM an account, rules decisions may be emailed to the Liar Game email (liargametournament2015@gmail.com) or to Alydar's email (alydar.lgt@gmail.com).
- Disclaimers
- WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACTIONS OF ANY USER OR THIRD-PARTY. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE OR LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES THAT OCCUR FROM THE USE OF THIS WEBSITE. YOU AGREE TO USE THIS SITE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
- We are unaffiliated with Shinobu Kaitani, Shueisha, Weekly Young Jump, or anything and anyone officially related to Liar Game.
- You are responsible for ensuring that you log into the proper site and that you keep your username/password secure. No Dealer will ever ask for a password, nor should you give any other person access to your account.
- The currency earned and lost in this game is entirely fictional and is in no way representative of any actual profit or debt paid on account of participating Players upon conclusion of this Tournament. Neither Dealers nor Players are obligated to pay any amount of money, in any currency, on account of a Player's success or lack thereof in any game conducted through this website or any of the affiliated prior Tournaments: liar-game.forum-motion.com, carouselofliars.proboards.com, liargametournament.proboards.com, and lgtcasino.proboards.com.
- Privacy Policy
- We do not sell or reveal any information you send us except for any legal issues. We only use any information you send us so that we can create your account and to update you on news regarding the current and future Tournaments.
- Confessionals. Each Player receives a confessional to share insights as they participate in the Tournament or to request Dealer attention to an issue. You should consider a message to one Dealer a message to ALL Dealers. We do not sell or reveal information confided in the confessional for any reason except for legal issues. When posting to the confessional, you are responsible for making sure you post in the correct board. A private message only to Dealers that does not perform a Tournament Action (see below) also counts as a confessional.
- Tournament Actions. Information you send us regarding a move during the Tournament will only be known to the Dealers. We will not confirm your move to other Players. The only exception is if a Game specifies otherwise.
