As you enter the room, an attendant beckons you over to the far wall, where a semicircular poker table has been set up against a large TV monitor set in the wall. The attendant stands against the wall as well, and he bids each of you choose a set around the semicircle. After you have seated yourselves, he hands each of you a small tablet, the display of which says "250 coins." Below the amount are seven tabs. The far-left tab has been grayed out, but it reads "Discard." The others have the numbers 1-6, respectively. Once that is done, you all wait for a moment, until... The huge monitor on the wall crackles to life to display Alydar's face (well, mask): "Ahahaha, settled in have you? Good, good, aha, no time like the present, right? You all have gotten our presents, right? Well, you're in mine, so you must have! Ahahahahahahaha!!!" After a moment of your bewildered silence, Alydar shakes his head and continues on. "Right, you're here for a game, aren't you? Cards, cards, I know I have them somewhere..." Alydar reaches offscreen and returns with a button. With a flourish, he presses the button as if it were a TV remote, and the screen promptly changes. "Aha! It actually worked! *ahem* In front of you, these six cards here, are the lots for the first round! Aha, attendant?" The attendant begins to open what had not been in his hand even moments earlier, what appears to be a booster pack of cards: a small pack, sealed in foil, with the number 1 across it. The attendant breaks the seal and deals out the cards. They match what is shown on the screen. "There you have it! The first round! Do you want a card? Two? All? Ahaha, it all depends on how much you're willing to pay! ...and how much others aren't, ahaha... Use that fancy technology doohicky and bid! If you've got any questions... well someone should know the answer, right?" You look once more up at the screen, trying to decide for which ones you'll bid, and how much... The round begins, and a countdown starts ticking down. You all have 48 hours to make your bid. The round ends at 2:00 am GMT on Tuesday, April 7th, 2015. Make sure to send a PM to Alydar with your bids (or lack thereof) by that time. You are free to change your bids at any time before the round is over, but make sure you include ALL of your current bids in a new PM, even if you don't change all of them. This game will NOT have finalization; the round will end at the scheduled time and not a moment earlier. This may change in later rounds, but this will be easier on me, so I can keep both games on the same time schedule. Your current status for this game should be reflected in a thread in your Inventory. Your cards, coins, and a breakdown of your current points will be kept there. In round-to-round updates, each player's current coins, number of cards, and current points will be shown. The individual cards aren't, but those are easily checked by looking at the results of previous rounds... As always, I'm here to help clarify the rules, and, as always, good luck! PlayersPlayer #06 - Imada Saneatsu Player #08 - reynardfox Player #09 - darinas3 Player #14 - Incognito Player #16 - deendir Player #21 - Avalon

Holy fuck dude, that much? On a side note, are you sure you don't want to send that kind of information in a private message to Alydar? It may not be such a good idea to advertise what you'll bet.

Whoops, I completely forgot to take Easter into consideration, people might be busy, and, well, this is only the first round, so... let's add a 24-hour extension to accommodate whatever insane planning you guys plan to do. You have about 48 hours from this message to get your bids in. At the 24-hour warning, I'll send reminder PMs to the people who haven't sent in bids...

At the sound of a buzzer, confetti rains down from the ceiling, and the TV monitor flickers on again to reveal Alydar. "Ahahaha, congratulations! Your first round is over; how does it feel? No matter, no matter, you're here to hear the results! Ah, but first... a bit of business to take care of. Deendir! A bit early to be falling asleep, no? Ahahaha... penalty, penalty, blah blah blah, 15 coins, bam! On we go! Let's go low! We've got some sixes up for grabs, hmm? Well, for a mere 10 coins, reynardfox will walk away with the 6 of Spades! Sneaking away with the other, Incognito takes the 6 of Diamonds for only 7, wow! As for the 9 of Spades, Avalon takes it for a nice 11 coins. Now... what you've all been waiting for... the Aces! Taking the Club for 12, Imada Saneatsu! Taking the Spade for a whopping 3, darinas3! And taking the Diamond for the low, low price of... ... ... Ahahaha, what's this? Well, it would appear no one wants it. Such a worthless little thing, an Ace; who would want one? Ahaha! Well, should you change your minds, it will be up for bid in the final auction..." As each card's winner is read out, the attendant hands that player their card, and the number of coins is subtracted from their balances. Suddenly, a leaderboard flashes onto the screen: Round 1 Resultsdarinas3: 1 card, 247 coins = 17 points Incognito: 1 card, 243 coins = 17 points reynardfox: 1 card, 240 coins = 17 points Avalon: 1 card, 239 coins = 16 points Imada Saneatsu: 1 card, 238 coins = 16 points deendir: 0 cards, 235 coins = 15 points Once more, Alydar's voice crackles over the speakers. "Ahaha, quite the even race! Well, it's still early; that can all change at the drop of a hat!" With that, the screen abruptly changes to the next lots, and a timer starts ticking down... You all have 48 hours to make your bid. The round ends at 10:00 pm GMT on Friday, April 10th, 2015. Make sure to send a PM to Alydar with your bids (or lack thereof) by that time. There are a bit less than 20 hours left in the round. I will likely not be out and about around update time, and I won't be back for a good... 12 hours or so. Apologies, but such is the way of things. As such, I'll probably accept bids until I return to write up the update, so yay extensions?

I gave you a good 20-hours heads up that the round would end about 12 hours late. Such alarm is uncalled for. That said, I'm back and will no longer be accepting changes to your bids. The round is now over.

Alydar's face appears once more on the TV, and he begins to explicate the happenings of the previous, prolonged round: "Everyone present and accounted for? Good! Gentlemen, start your engines... Ready... And they're off! Around and around and around they go, Incognito with an early lead, snatching up the 5 of Diamonds for 6 coins! What's this? Ah, he seems to be a good sport, letting others go by and- OH NO, THEY'VE CRASHED! A big pileup has taken down all the racers but the one trailing behind! It looks like the expected underdog is taking the lead, taking all of the other cards for 5 coins apiece! Ahahaha, what a turnaround! What'll we see in the next round?" As each card's winner is read out, the attendant hands that player their card, and the number of coins is subtracted from their balances. Suddenly, a leaderboard flashes onto the screen: Round 2 Resultsdeendir -> 5 cards, 210 coins, 19 points Incognito -> 2 cards, 237 coins, 17 points darinas3 -> 1 card, 247 coins, 17 points reynardfox -> 1 card, 240 coins, 17 points Avalon -> 1 card, 239 coins, 16 points Imada Saneatsu -> 1 card, 238 coins, 16 points Once more, Alydar's voice crackles over the speakers. "Ahahaha, that sure came as a bit of a surprise! But enough about the past, look to the future! The next cards!" The screen abruptly changes to the next lots, and a timer starts ticking down... You all have 48 hours to make your bid. The round ends at 11:30 am GMT on Monday, April 13th, 2015. Make sure to send a PM to Alydar with your bids (or lack thereof) by that time. You are free to change your bids at any time before the round is over, but make sure you include ALL of your current bids in a new PM, even if you don't change all of them. In round-to-round updates, each player's current coins, number of cards, and current points will be shown. The individual cards aren't, but those are easily checked by looking at the results of previous rounds... A reminder that you may now auction off cards, should you feel you don't need them. If you'd like to auction off a card in the following round (Round 4), please tell me. If you'd like to auction a card that you plan to win this round, you may do so on the condition that you do indeed win the card... My internet availability should improve tomorrow, so we'll probably see more on-time updates starting now. Your Inventory threads will be updated shortly, but I wanted to get this round started, first. Group B's Inventory threads have been updated. If you see any problems, please tell me.

A quick, off the wall question.
Are you allowed to bid on a card before you show it for auction? For example, I decide to sell one of my cards off, and I want a specific price for it, so I bid on my own card before anyone else even sees it.
I imagine the answer is no, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Once you auction off a card, it is up for auction. As with the rest of the cards up for auction, anyone may bid on them, including the person who put the card up for auction. Should the card go unbid-for, it would go to the discard pile and will NOT be up for auction later. Should the card be won, the winning bid will be paid to the player who auctioned, not to the LGT. In the event that you have the winning bid on a card that you auctioned, nothing changes. Remember that your total bids for a round cannot surpass your current funds. In the interest of clarification, since this is not written in the rules, the player auctioning a card will automatically lose a tie for the card he or she auctioned. Also to clarify, each player may only put one card up for auction. I had forgotten that as well, as the only time cards were auctioned off previously was for the final auction. For the final auction alone, players may discard as many cards as they wish. Apologies if that was unclear. Edit: Oh, and we're at around the 24-hour warning, so make sure to get your bids in!

Right, but can you bid on a card before it goes up?
