Bid Poker
Objective: Bid on Lots to create the best poker hand!
Setup
1) Each player will receive 150 coins for bidding. Only coins may be used for bidding
2) The game will use a standard 52 card deck and poker hand rankings.
3) At the start of the game, there will be ten predetermined and ordered Lots, each consisting of five or six cards.
4) There will be a 48h Consideration Period before the first round. The Dealer will reveal all Lots in the Catalogue at this time.
Game Schedule
1) The game is divided into two segments, “Catalogue” and then “Change”.
2) The Catalogue segment is divided into ten rounds, one for each Lot. During the first round, players will bid on the first Lot, the second Lot in the second round, and so on. Each round will last 24h.
3) Once the Catalogue segment has concluded, the game moves into the Change segment. This segment has three rounds divided into “Discard” and then “Bidding” Phases. Each phase will last 48h.
Gameplay
1) When making your decisions, send a PM to your Dealer and to Liar Game (admin) indicating your bid. You must send in a PM even if you choose to do nothing.
2) In Catalogue rounds, the highest bidder for the current Lot wins and makes the payment to the LGT. On bidding ties, the Dealer will choose the first decision submitted. All bids and the winner will be announced.
2b) If there are no bidders in a Lot during a Catalogue round, that Lot is discarded.
3) In a Discard Phases, players will decide which cards they wish to sell during the Bidding Phase.
3a) The player’s discarded cards in a Discard Phase will make up a single Lot during the Bidding Phase.
4) In the Bidding Phases, all Lots will be revealed and auctioned simultaneously.
4a) The highest bidder for a Lot during a Bidding Phase pays the bid to the Lot’s seller. On bidding ties, the Dealer will choose the first decision submitted. All bids and the winner will be announced.
4b) Players may bid on multiple Lots (including their own), but total bids in a Bidding Phase cannot exceed coins on hand. Lots without a bid return to the player.
Endgame
1) Once the third Bidding Phase has concluded, the Dealer will rank hands. The Dealer will automatically pick the best cards to determine your hand.
1a) There must be at least 5 cards to form a hand and get ranked, or else that player is a “pig” and fails to rank. Pigs pay 100m to first place.
2) The top three players win and advance to the next round. If more than three players rank top three, those in the worst qualifying rank are all eliminated. If fewer than three players rank top three, more shall be eliminated.
3) First place collects 100m yen from last place and second collects 50m yen from second-to-last. Third place gets nothing but still moves on.
3a) If there is a tie, they will split the collected winnings (so two players in first both win 75m yen). If first place is a tie, the next rank wins nothing.
4) Players convert each coin to 1m yen apiece and pay 100m yen to the LGT.
Inactivity
1) Every round missed in the Catalogue segment and every phase missed in the Change segment penalizes the player with a strike.
2) On the sixth strike, the LGT shall confiscate his/her coins, cards, and remove that player from the game.
