Downsizing Game
Objective: Don't have the fewest votes, or else you're fired!
General Rules
1) Each player receives a loan of 100m yen. This is your private money on hand.
2) Money and votes can be transferred, see the section "Contracts" below
3) There are 5 turns lasting 72h.
4) Each turn, you must PM the Dealer to distribute 10 votes to players other than yourself (for example, 10 votes to Alice, or 5 votes to Alice and 5 Votes to Bob, etc.).
5) The end of a turn is divided into two steps: first we will announce the votes each player received (not the senders), and then reveal any gains and losses in votes per player due to vote transfers.
Contracts
1) Contracts are allowed, but their scope cannot exceed this game (such as transfers from your tournament bank account)
2) You may only transfer votes and yen by contract.
3) Transfers execute at the end of a round unless stipulated otherwise by contract. A contract cannot become active before the voting of the turn it was approved.
4) Contract Guidelines. The LGT must be able to guarantee that all contracts are executable. So for rules of thumb, contracts should:
4a) ...be executable in your current game state (basically, in any given scenario, you can still carry out the contract).
4b) ...not depend on someone else's private information (You must assume, for contract-writing purposes, that you are the only person the other signatories made a contract with).
4c) ...not force another player to make a move you can observe that they cannot make.
4d) ...not force players to have negative votes/yen
5) The LGT will try to approve and notify the signatories within 24 hours, but may for various reasons have to delay approval. The LGT is not obligated to explain any delays or pause the game to approve a contract.
5a) Invalid contracts will cause a delay. If this is due to an individual player’s fault, we will try to work with that player and resolve it ASAP. If this is due to a contract fault, the LGT will notify the signatories.
6) The LGT will notify all signatories when the contract has been approved and will return a copy for confirmation.
7) Please submit new contracts and amendments in a private thread with the Dealer only. Do not use a group private thread to submit contracts.
8) If you intend to manipulate a loophole in a contract, please inform the Dealer when submitting the contract.
Final Turn Vote Bribe
1) On the last turn, players may attempt to bribe the LGT for a chance to secure an extra 51 votes by sending in-game money.
1a) If you did not send in the most money, the LGT will politely decline and return your money.
1b) Money sent in must be immediately on hand.
1c) Minimum to bribe is 25m yen.
2) The votes will add at the same time as the end-turn second step (Rules, 5).
3) If there is a tie, priority will go to the players with the fewest votes. If there is still a tie, the votes are split (fractions permitted).
4) The winner(s) of this bid and subsequent vote transfer calculation, are not revealed publicly, but only to the winner(s) of the bid. These votes cannot be transferred. The final result of the calculation will still appear during the end-turn second step.
Losers and Payouts
1) The player(s) with the fewest votes lose and are Fired, and they will be eliminated from the Tournament. This result will be announced.
1a) If all players tie, then all players are Fired.
2) Those Fired will (each) pay 100m yen into a fund that will be distributed to the player(s) with the most votes.
2a) If all players tie, meaning that nobody has the most votes, then no payouts will take place.
3) If one player alone receives the most votes by the end of the game, the LGT will freely pay him/her 100m yen!
Inactivity
1) They will be announced as such, and their votes received and to distribute, lost.
2) Two inactivity strikes and you're out.
2a) A loss due to inactivity will definitely eliminate you, along with any other players.
2b) Inactive players will still pay the most-voted.
2c) The game state of the eliminated player due to inactivity will be kept in order to maintain their active contracts. They may not input additional moves. Players may not vote an inactive player. Any game money they have at the end of the game will go to the LGT.
3) If your current game state does not permit deciding a move, we will not count a lack of PM as an inactive strike.
4) A reminder not to use inactivity for strategic purposes, as this goes against our Code of Conduct. You have been warned.
