Welcome, one and all, to Card Auction! Here, we auction off cards from a standard deck of 54 cards, and it's your job to buy them and gain as many points as possible! Now, how do you determine your points? Well... you can read the full rules here. I don't feel like copying everything over.
...but hey, I'll give some basics here anyway.
There are 54 cards: the standard 52, plus 2 jokers. Now, these jokers are disguised as other cards, but the trick is that they will always appear before the actual card. So, say the Black Joker shows up as the Ace of Spades, it will always be the first Ace of Spades to show up. These jokers each have a different use: the Black Joker can be used to steal a card from another player, while the Red Joker can be used to stop others from bidding on a card, allowing you to buy it for a single coin! Alternatively, jokers can be used as the card they appear as, resulting in the rare 5-of-a-kind! Should the Red Joker and Black Joker be used on the same turn, the Red Joker takes precedence.
Each player has 250 coins to use for bidding. Each round (48 hours), six cards will be up for auction. Starting in the 3rd round, players may also auction their hard-earned cards for others' coins! After all cards have been offered up for auction, any which were unbid-for will be offered up in a final auction. In the event of a tie to win a card, the player with fewer cards takes it. If the tied players have the same number of cards, the player who sent it in fastest wins the card.
What are you getting with the cards? Points! Depending on how well the card complements the rest of your hand, each card gives a variable amount, from 1-80 points! Wow! More details in the rules. Also, at the end of the game, you can trade in coins for points. For a 4-5 player game, 10 coins equal 1 point. For a 6-7 player game, 15 coins equal 1 point. For an 8-9 player game, 20 coins equal 1 point. In the event of inactivity, inactive players will be penalized the equivalent of 1 point in coins.
Since the winners of bids are public, players' hands (and points!) are public as well. The only private information is the whereabouts of the jokers... Ahah. Well, and which cards are in each auction, since that would be telling.
That should cover most everything you'll need, but if you have any questions, consult the rules, or ask your question in this thread, and I will happily answer! The game requires a minimum of 4 players, but we can handle as many as arrive! Signups will be open for... let's say a bit over a week. Signups will close on Sunday, April 5th at 2:00 am GMT. Without further ado, begin signing up! Ahahaha!
