Garden of Eden
Objective: Cast the colored apples to become the Liar King/Queen!
Setup
1) The LGT collects 50m yen from each player before starting the game.
2) This game has a time limit of 10 rounds. Each round lasts 48h. The game may end before all rounds have been completed.
3) Each player starts with zero points. Points can be negative.
3a) If a player has a score of -5 points or fewer, the Dealer will publicly identify that player and eliminate him/her from the game.
4) Each player will prepare a Basket to earn points through harvesting Gold/Silver apples. Before the game begins, players have a 48h Basket Period to PM the Dealer with an ordered list of at least two and no more than five Gold/Silver apples.
5) Each player receives three Pink apples for manipulating if the round is scored by majority/minority. See section “Scoring” for more information on how such calculations are performed.
6) Each player receives a time bank of two 24h periods. A period may activate upon request or inactivity. Activation upon request will not reveal the requester. Activation upon inactivity is public knowledge. If a player is inactive and does not have any periods remaining, then the player is identified, drops out of the game, and pays 100m yen to the LGT.
Basket
1) Each player has an ordered list of Gold/Silver apples to harvest, as prepared in the Basket Period.
2) Casting a winning color harvests the apple for the Basket prepared during Basket Period. However, see rule 3.
3) Players can only harvest Gold/Silver apples in the order they have listed (e.g., 1st Gold, then 2nd Silver, and then 3rd Silver). If you are able to harvest but need to harvest the opposite color for your Basket, you fail to harvest that round. You never "start over" an incomplete Basket.
4) Harvesting or not harvesting does not affect any points earned for casting the winning color.
5) Once a player completes the Basket, points earned due to the Basket will be automatically awarded and included in the round’s points-earned calculation.
6) Points are given based on the number of apples needed to complete the Basket.
--Two apples = 1 point
--Three apples = 2.5 points
--Four apples = 5 points
--Five apples = 7.5 points
7) Upon completing a Basket, players can harvest apples for another Basket identical to the one prepared during the Basket Period.
Apples
1) Gold and Silver: When Gold is the winning color, players who cast Gold earn 1.5 points. When Silver is the winning color, players who cast Silver earn 1 point. Winning players will harvest that color for their own Basket if possible (you must harvest). Players who cast a losing color lose 1 point. In the event of a tie between Gold and Silver (and there is no Red), both colors are considered losing colors and all players lose 1 point. Also, if all players vote Gold or all players vote Silver, both colors are considered losing colors and all players lose 1 point.
2) Pink: Normally, the game is scored by majority as winning color, but if an odd number of pink apples were cast, the round will be scored by minority as winning color. Cast in addition to Gold/Silver, and either White or Black if desired.
--(a) Consecutive casting of Pink (including the free Pink from casting Black) carries a 0.5 point penalty.
--(b) Players start the game with three Pink apples.
--(c) A player’s Pink apple can be Voided for the round if agreed to by everyone else. Being Voided does not affect a player’s decision to Void and also does not affect the consecutive casting penalty.
--(d) The player can cast a free Pink during the round that player casts Black.
3) White: Win! When cast alongside the winning color and nobody else casts White/Black with the winning color, the player wins the game! This can be cast in addition to Gold/Silver when a player has at least 4 points or less than or equal to -4 points. The player cannot have cast Black in the prior round with less than 4 points. If the player has less than or equal to -4 points, they cannot have cast Red during the game. Can also be cast in addition to Pink, if desired.
--(a) If multiple people cast White with the winning color, then they instead lose 1 point for the round, unless the player was casting with -4 or fewer and in such a case that player has no change in score.
--(b) If anybody casts White with the losing color, then they instead lose 3 points for the round.
--(c) If a player would win from casting White alone, but a player cast Black with the winning color, then the player casting White instead has no change in score.
4) Black: Raises the stakes. Cast in addition to Gold/Silver, and Pink if desired.
--(a) If cast with the winning color, then the player earns 3 points and negates any player casting White from winning the game.
--(b) If cast with the losing color, then the player will be revealed, becomes an automatic loser, and drops out of the game.
--(c) Players casting Black may also cast a free Pink apple (the free Pink is use-or-lose, limited to the current round while casting Black).
5) Red: Does trust exist? When all players cast Red, all players win! Must be cast alone and players cannot cast Red if a player has been eliminated for any reason except inactivity.
--(a) If there are 2+ Gold and/or Silver in a round where Red was cast, then Gold and Silver are both winning colors regardless of how the round would be scored.
--(b) If only one player casts Red, then the player will be revealed, becomes an automatic loser, and drops out of the game.
--(c) If only one player casts Gold or Silver and everyone else casts Red, then the player casting Gold/Silver automatically wins!
Gameplay
1) Each round, players must cast one of the following apples: Gold, Silver, or Red.
--(a) If a player has been eliminated for any reason except inactivity, then players cannot cast Red apples.
2) In addition to casting Gold/Silver, players may cast any of the following apples:
--(a) Pink, assuming the player has any remaining or is also casting Black.
--(b) White, when the player has at least 4 points, or less than/equal to -4 points without casting Red, and the player did not cast Black in the prior round with less than 4 points.
--(c) Black can be cast any round.
3) Players may also request to Void the Pink apple from any number of targeted players. If all players, not including the target, agree to Void the target player’s Pink apple for the round, then the target’s Pink apple does not apply in the calculation.
--(a) Note that a Voided player's decision to Void other players is still applicable.
Scoring
1) At the start of each round, the Dealer checks for a winner; otherwise, the Dealer PMs to each player their updated score based on the apples cast and the winning color(s).
2) The only public information are the number of Gold/Silver/Red apples cast, if the winning color was determined by majority/minority, and any players eliminated along with the reason.
3) Determining if the round is scored majority/minority is performed privately by the Dealer and the steps are as follows:
--(a) Check Pink voids.
--(b) Next, if an odd number of players have cast Pink to request that scoring be done by minority, the minority color wins.
Endgame
1) The game ends once one of the conditions have been met...and the result:
--(a) One player alone is able to successfully cast White...that player wins!
--(b) One player alone casts Gold/Silver and all other players cast Red...the lone player casting Gold/Silver wins.
--(c) All players cast Red...the LGT will award all players in this game 300m yen. There will not be a Liar King/Queen, but all players will be acknowledged as co-winners.
--(d) There are two players remaining in the game...the player with the most points will become the winner. If it is still a tie, then the player with the most yen in the bank account will become the winner.
--(e) Ten rounds have passed...the player with the most points will become the winner. If it is still a tie, then the player with the most yen in the bank account will become the winner.
2) The Dealer will post the final points for each player along with the final result, unless the game ended because all players cast Red apples. If the game ends because all players cast Red apples, then the final points will not be revealed.
3) The Liar King/Queen will collect 250m yen from the losers. If victory was due to being the sole player casting a Gold/Silver and all other players cast Red as described in rule 1b in this section, then the LGT will award an extra 250m yen to that player.
Miscellaneous
1) Bank accounts are permanently locked for the rest of the Tournament unless all players cast Red apples. If all players cast Red apples, then the players will earn a period of 48h to make any bank transfers for sentimental reasons, because the Tournament concludes with this game.
